I want to share some very exciting personal news with you and take a moment to discuss what it means for you.

I recently completed my official certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) and this moves me into a special group of senior practitioners. For example, I’m the only certified functional practitioner in Oakland and one of only a handful in the entire Bay Area.

Rather than certification being the first step, this certification comes at the end of a long process that involves actually treating Functional Medicine patients and studying for many years. To practice Functional Medicine (FM) in the first place, one needs to be a primary care physician — which I have been for 17+ years. I also had to complete the full IFM course curriculum, which I did years ago. I then needed to couple that with several years of field experience — working with all of you has been a part of that process. This all culminated this past December with me passing one of the hardest tests I’ve ever taken.

In other words, being certified isn’t the first step in my training, rather it’s more like me earning my black belt in Functional Medicine.

What does this mean for you? Well, if you’ve been struggling with health issues and aren’t getting the help you need, I will use my extensive experience, expertise, and education, to help you get to the root cause of your symptoms. I have a real understanding about what it takes to resolve your health issues.
