I’m a big fan of home cooked foods and I try to make my meals most of the time. But like you, I’m a busy person with a full time job and two kids. Therefore, I rely on some store bought snacks to appease my hunger. I’ve created a list of my favorites to share with you. Remember, just because these are much healthier than traditional snacks like chips and candy, that doesn’t mean you should overdo them. Stick to a serving — at most once a day.

  1. A handful of nuts: almonds, walnuts, pecans, or cashews. Preferably raw and organic. They’re filled with healthy fats, fiber, and protein. They also are satisfying because they make you feel full. A handful is a serving. If you’re stuck in the airport, or find yourself hungry at a gas station, and can’t find anything to eat, nuts are often the best choice available.

  2. Jackson’s Honest Sweet Potato Chips cooked in coconut oil and sprinkled with sea salt. These are really good and it’s a family owned business.

  3. Barnana Organic Plantain Chips cooked in coconut oil and sprinkled with Himalayan salt. Plantains contain resistant starch which acts as a prebiotic, promoting the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon. These are easy to find at the organic grocery store, or you can get them here.

  4. Rx bars – These are delicious and filling. I wish the sugar content was a little lighter but it does come from dates. My favorite flavor is the chocolate sea salt. You can find these at the organic grocery store or here.

  5. Grass fed beef jerky. There are lots of good brands that you can find in the organic grocery store. Or try these from Krave

  6. Organic kale chips. The crunch is really satisfying and kale is a great source of vitamins A, K, and C, as well as potassium and calcium. You can make your own or try Rhythm Superfoods Kale Chips.. They’re also readily available at the organic grocery store.

  7. Dried fruit chips: These Bare Snacks apple chips are excellent or try organic dried mango with no sugar added. You can find these at any organic grocery store.

  8. Siete Foods Grain Free Tortilla Chips. They’re made with simple ingredients like coconut flour and avocado oil and come in a variety of flavors (such as Chipotle BBQ, Nacho, and Ranch). The best part? They’re 100% plant-based and free from gluten, dairy, soy, and grains.

  9. Lesser Evil Organic Himalayan Pink Salt Popcorn. Made with only three ingredients: organic popcorn, extra-virgin coconut oil, and Himalayan pink salt. Available in most organic grocery stores and readily available at Whole Foods.

  10. Mary’s Gone Crackers Super Seed Crackers. Full of heart-healthy Omega 3’s (such as pumpkin, flax, and chia seeds) and are packed with fiber (up to 3 grams per serving). Try these with some hummus on top. Available in most organic grocery stores.
