ADRENAL TESTS

GENOVA ADRENOCORTEX STRESS PROFILE

COST: $230

The Adrenocortex Stress Profile (ASP) provides an assessment of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis using carefully timed salivary samples of the hormones cortisol and DHEA.

Salivary testing is an easy, non-invasive option to measure unbound, biologically active parent hormone levels. Four salivary samples measured throughout the day to give insight into the natural circadian diurnal cortisol rhythm, and help clinicians address specific daily stressors.

Plus Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) Add-On (+$40):
Three awakening saliva samples to evaluate CAR with one evening cortisol sample. CAR is a transient, immediate rise in cortisol upon awakening and is distinct from the diurnal rhythm. CAR reflects a person’s ability to cope with anticipated challenges and their perception of control around chronic stress, providing insight into HPA axis resiliency. The isolated evening cortisol has distinct clinical implications. Elevated evening cortisol is linked to insomnia and associated with various diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hormonally driven cancers, and osteoporosis.

Hormone Imbalance

RHYTHM™

COST: $405

The Rhythm test is an easy to administer hormone assessment that uses salivary samples taken at home over a period of 28 days. It provides a comprehensive analysis of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone throughout a woman’s cycle. Hormone imbalances revealed in this hormone test profile can help illuminate root causes of disorders such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), infertility, and menstrual irregularities. This hormonal test analyzes 11 saliva samples of a 28–day period.

Hormonal balance is key to health. Research has long shown that fluctuating levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone play a major role in a woman’s overall health affecting:

  • Menstrual cycle
  • Mood swings
  • Sleep patterns
  • Appetite level
  • Sex drive

Chronic hormonal imbalances are implicated in disorders such as:

  • PMS
  • Anovulation
  • Infertility
  • Amenorrhea
  • Endometriosis
  • Polycystic Ovary Disease
  • Osteoporosis

This saliva hormone test provides a thorough analysis of estradiol and progesterone over a full 28 day cycle. Testosterone is measured once from the 28th day specimen. By utilizing 11 saliva samples for analysis, the relationship and balance of these essential hormones are analyzed more precisely through time. The levels of estradiol and progesterone, as well as the ratio between the two, are clearly graphed for easy reference and patient education.

Unlike serum measurements that typically reflect both bound and unbound fractions of hormones, salivary samples represent only the free (unbound) bioavailable fraction of hormone. Factors that affect binding globulin such as obesity and thyroid function do not influence test results with false high or low test levels.

The Rhythm profile is a hormonal test indicated for both premenopausal and perimenopausal women not currently supplementing with hormones. An analysis of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone can reveal ovulatory function and trends in hormone production. Hormonal imbalances such as unopposed estrogen, high follicular progesterone, anovulation and luteal phase defects are easily identified. This hormone test is especially useful in treatment of patients with chronic gynecologic disorders.

hormonally driven cancers, and osteoporosis.

RHYTHM PLUS™

COST: $525

The Rhythm Plus™ hormone test is a comprehensive salivary assessment of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone that spans a full 28 days. Additionally, this hormone testing profile includes the Adrenocortex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile to reveal how the sex hormones are influenced by cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin. Hormonal balance is the key. Fluctuating levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone play a major role in a woman’s overall health. Rhythm Plus is a hormonal test indicated for both premenopausal and perimenopausal women not currently supplementing with hormones.

Hormone imbalances may be responsible for:

  • Menstrual cycle irregularities
  • Mood disorders
  • Insomnia
  • GI complaints
  • Libido
  • Fatigue

The Rhythm Plus provides a thorough analysis of estradiol and progesterone over a full 28 day cycle.

Elevated evening cortisol is linked to insomnia and associated with various diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hormonally driven cancers, and osteoporosis.

THE DUTCH COMPLETE

COST: $375

The DUTCH Complete is the most advanced hormone test, offering an extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones and melatonin, along with their metabolites, to identify symptoms of hormonal imbalances.

Easily collected in the comfort of your own home, samples are then sent to our lab to be processed. The DUTCH Complete is the most accurate test, providing a complete assessment of hormonal health.

THE DUTCH PLUS WITH INSOMNIA ADD ON

COST: $475

The DUTCH Plus with Insomnia Add-On takes hormone testing to a whole new level. In addition to sex hormones and their metabolites, the DUTCH Complete™ looks at the overall diurnal pattern of free cortisol, and the total and distribution of cortisol metabolites. The DUTCH Plus® adds the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) to bring another important piece of the HPA-axis into focus.

When we open our eyes upon waking, cortisol levels naturally begin to rise by an average of 50%. 30 minutes after waking, cortisol levels will still show this sharp increase. By 60 minutes after waking, cortisol levels have peaked and begin to decline. Measuring this rise and fall of cortisol levels at waking can be used as a “mini stress test”. Research shows that the size of this increase correlates with HPA-axis function, even if the sample measurements are all within range. A quick saturation of saliva swabs upon waking, and at 30 and 60 minutes after waking, provide what is required to assess a patient’s Cortisol Awakening Response.

THE DUTCH CYCLE MAPPING PLUS

COST: $695

The DUTCH Cycle Mapping™ PLUS not only maps estrogen and progesterone through the monthly menstrual cycle, but also adds the comprehensiveness of all the hormone metabolites along with the cortisol awakening response (CAR).

Hormonal balance is key. Fluctuating levels of estradiol and progesterone play a major role in a woman’s overall health. This panel is designed for cycling women who struggle with ongoing symptoms such as monthly migraines, fertility issues, or PCOS. The addition of the cortisol awakening response (CAR), a transient, immediate rise in cortisol upon awakening (distinct from the diurnal rhythm), provides a fuller assessment of hormone fluctuations, baseline stress response, and reflects a patient’s ability to cope with anticipated challenges. CAR also shows a patient’s perception of control around chronic stress, providing insight into HPA resiliency.

WHEN IS CYCLE MAPPING™ PLUS RECOMMENDED?

• Women struggling with infertility
Women with cycling hormones and no menses
Partial hysterectomy (ovaries intact but no uterus)
 Ablations
 Women with irregular cycles
 PCOS
If the luteal phase shifts from month-to-month
Not sure when to test due to long or short cycles
